As the Christmas shopping season draws closer (some efficient people have started already) and eBay store owner wants to try to find a way to get an edge of their competitors to get their items noticed – and sold – first.
Some eBay sellers take the plunge and eBay shop templates tweaked to have a more festive feel about them while others “Christamasify” their individual eBay listing templates instead. Price cuts are a big thing too as are special offers on shipping.
The one thing that many eBay shoppers are looking for, especially as the holidays get closer, is some kind of promise that if they buy they can get their goods quickly at a good shipping rate. To help encourage more eBay store owners and eBay sellers to offer such options eBay.co.uk have launched a program they have already been running in the US and Austalia – “Fast N Free”
The large green and white ‘Fast N Free” logo will be automatically added, by eBay, to listings that offer free shipping and delivery within 2-3 days and to both buy it now options and auction style listings. That means that if you offer a 2 day dispatch time then express services such as Royal Mail Special Delivery, Royal Mail Tracked Next Day, Parcelforce 24 and Other 24 hour Courier will qualify your listings for the Fast ‘n Free logo which is certainly very noticeable and will be listed next to the auction heading in a list view search, something that eBay say has already proved itself a great marketing vehicle in the other markets.
Not all eBay sellers want, or can even afford to offer free express postage so the Fast N Free shipping program is not mandatory. It may make most sense to pick and choose certain items to offer free shipping on – your big Christmas sellers – and stick to regular delivery options on other items in your eBay store. eBay will then simply only add the new logo to the listings that qualify.
The Fast N Free program should be fully implemented on eBay.co.uk by the end of October 2012.
